Inside, the 2021 Venza will boast upscale looks with some callbacks to its RAV4 and Highlander siblings, including the dash-top infotainment screen and stubby gear shifter. Setting off this cabin will be the two-tone color scheme that will include a contrasting center dash bezel, center console, and door inserts. Space will be another luxury inside the Venza with up to 36.3 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats.

Toyota equips the Venza similarly to the Highlander: active safety features such as automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and adaptive cruise control are standard; an 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard on LE and XLE versions, while a 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard on Venza Limited (and optional on XLE); a 10.0-inch head-up display and 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster are equipped on XLE and Limited trims.

2021 Toyota Venza Style and performance

The Venza’s shape aligns closer to the Highlander (and even perhaps the hydrogen-powered Mirai sedan) more than the smaller crossovers in the Toyota portfolio. Its front bumpers and body sides are largely missing most of the right angles and hard shadows cast by the RAV4 and 4Runner in favor of smoother surfaces and a nearly blanked upper grille, which is in line with the rest of Toyota’s hybrids. Along the sides, the Venza is free of many creases and sharp edges, similar to the Highlander but also some of Mazda’s latest efforts, too.

Around the back, the Venza skips the taller Highlander taillights for thinner LEDs that span the hatch. It’s a different, racier look for the two-row crossover compared to the last Venza and current Highlander, and it works well.

The best value of the bunch is the XLE model, which comes standard with front and rear parking sensors, passive keyless entry, and 19-inch aluminum wheels. All Venza models come standard with all-wheel drive, so those who want that feature aren’t forced to shell out extra.

Toyota Venza Dimensions (Vs. Rav4)

RAV4 and Venza 2020
  1. Length: 186.6 in (+5.7 in)
  2. Height: 65.9 in (-1.1 in)
  3. Width: 73 in (same)
  4. Wheelbase: 105.9 in (same)
  5. Cargo space behind the second row: 36 cu ft (-2 cu ft)

Nonetheless, with the design of the Venza, Toyota ensured that it wouldn’t be confused for a RAV4. The Venza looks more sleek and refined to our eyes, sharing its smoother styling cues with the C-HR and the Highlander rather than the sharper, more angled design seen on the RAV4 and 4Runner.

Standard and Optional Features

Both the RAV4 and the Venza come standard with Toyota’s suite of driver assistance features, known as Toyota Safety Sense, which includes pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, road sign assist, and other features.

The Venza comes standard with an 8.0-inch infotainment display and offers a 12.3-inch display is optional. The RAV4 comes standard with a 7.0-inch screen and offers an 8.0-inch screen as an option. The Venza offers a fixed panoramic glass roof that can be switched from transparent to frosted to reduce direct sunlight.

2021 Toyota Venza Exterior and Interior Details

Overall, the Venza appears to be a more refined RAV4 hybrid, both inside and out, with the slightly more advanced powertrain and more standard technology that sets it apart. Once we get our hands on one, we’ll be able to evaluate their differences fully.

2021 Toyota Venza colors

Wondering about the variety of colours used on the new 2021 Toyota Venza, some new and some we are quite familiar with but the 2021 Venza colours include Blizzard Pearl (white), Black, Ruby Flare Pearl, Celestial Black, Coastal Gray Metallic, Titanium Glow, and Blueprint.

Coastal Gray Metallic is the colour we have been seeing the most of in Toyota’s initial launch blitz. This one seems luxurious and classy, and it probably will not show too much dirt. Venza is on my shortlist for a new car at the end of the year, and I think Coastal Gray will be my choice – at least for now.

2021 Toyota Venza Dimensions

Although classified as a midsize crossover by Toyota, the Venza isn’t much bigger than the RAV4, sharing the same wheelbase and width, while being lower. The Venza is a couple of inches longer, though, with a length of 186.6 inches, though that’s mostly because of the front- and rear-end designs. It is 73 inches wide, has a wheelbase of 105.9 inches, and a height of 65.9 inches including the antenna. The Venza has a maximum ground clearance of 7.8 inches. With a starting curb weight of 3,847 pounds, the Venza is 92 lbs heavier than the lightest RAV4 Hybrid. The range-topping Venza Limited weighs in at 3,913 lbs.

Inside, the Venza is a cut above the RAV4 in terms of material quality, bordering on Lexus territory. Everything looks and feels built to last, and the hourglass-shaped console provides the driver and front passenger with a cocooning feel. The Black/Java dual-tone color scheme available higher up in the range takes the feeling of luxury up another few notches. That said, the cabin is not notably bigger than the RAV4s.

On the base LE, features like an eight-inch touchscreen, an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, fabric-trimmed seats, road sign assist, and blind-spot monitoring are standard. The mid-range XLE adds SofTex bolsters to the seats, front/rear parking assistance, and heated front seats, while the Limited gets ventilated front seats, a bird’s eye view camera, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a nine-speaker audio system.
